TYPOGRAPHY - KALINGA
This project allowed me to create my own type from scratch.
I chose the name kalinga which deprives from my heritage.
Kalinga is a province of northern Philippines which is now commonly known to be the home of Fang Od, the last line of traditional Kalinga tattoo artists in the Philippines.
I wanted to capture the strong repetitive lines of the tradition allowing the type to be also used as patterns just like the tattoos.
TYPE - This is my completed alphabet of my own type both Uppercase and Lowercase
Using grid paper allowed me to get the letters all in proportion which was key to getting a alphabet to work within each letter
I created the alphabet in a way where you can also use them as patterns. Since this was inspired by the Kalinga tattoos, the patterns used all symbolises special meanings. I wanted my type to be used as letters as well as allowing others to create there own special pattern
